15 minutes of fame in Cusco Peru

We are back to Peru, this time in Cusco.

Did I mention why we traveled from Lima, Peru straight to Atacama desert in Chile, and back to Peru?

Our original plan was to travel from country to country, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina. In fact, I already bought the tickets from Lima to Cusco on Sept 27, but I soon realized that new moon was on Sept 28. If we followed our original plan to travel to Cusco-Machu Picchu-Arequipa in Peru, and then go to Atacama desert, it would have been full moon.

I wanted to photograph milky way. Atacama desert is one of the darkest places on earth at night. If I went there during full moon, it would defeat all the purpose.

So we changed route, and wasted those 4 plane tickets from Lima to Cusco. I didn’t regret. It was probably one of the best decisions I made for the trip.

I photographed milky way on our arrival night, and could easily see it every night above our desert hut. (see my milky way shot in our front yard)

So, now, back to Cusco.

Orion got "famous"!

It was not the first time strangers ask to take pictures with him in our trip. Having more than a dozen of girls line up to take selfies with him was certainly overwhelming experience yesterday.

I don’t think he knows how to pose for the camera yet, so it certainly will take him some practice before anything like this happens again.
