Most visitors come to Oʻahu for the beaches.

As a “local” for the past 1.5 years, I’ve found some of my favorite photo spots and experiences on the trails — waterfalls, ridgelines, wildlife, city views, dramatic coastlines,

Not every travel photo needs an extraordinary destination, perfect light, or a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Some of my favorite photos come from very ordinary moments — a pause, a glance, a gesture, a step, a throw, or simply the way light falls

I rarely pose people for a photo, including my family and kids.

I’d rather let life unfold, stay camera-ready, and wait for the fleeting moment that resonates.

If I could give my younger photographer self one piece of advice, it would be this:

Don’t measure progress by how much photography information you consume. Measure it by how much you can actually apply when the camera is in your hands.

Most of my editing isn’t about transforming a photo.

It’s about bringing the image closer to what I remembered and felt when I clicked the shutter.

Good light + intentional capture = much less work later.

Why do my kids sometimes carry my tripod or camera backpack on hikes?

Partly because I believe in raising helpful children.

Mostly because it slows them down enough for me to catch up. 😄
