Day 45 – Evening In Deadwood, South Dakota
Most of my photographs taken on my current 2-month road trip are nature and landscape in the sunset colors (or wild animals). But yesterday I decided to do something different.
We did a short walk along the Main St in the historic town, Deadwood, South Dakota. Quite frankly you can spend less than 5 minutes walking from one end of the street to the other. Most people come here to gamble as the Main St is full of casinos. I set up my tripod at a major crossing with one of the only neon-lit buildings (the purple one) in the background.
I wanted to capture the moving vehicles and their headlight trail. Surprisingly, a large bus came through, leaving a long trail of lights high in the air. It was interesting and unexpected. See below picture.
My camera setting: Aperture priority, ISO100, 16mm, f/20, 20 sec
On the contrary, the other image taken at the exact same location without the bus trail now looks a bit dull.
See the tip shared in this video tutorial – how to create the extraordinary from the ordinary
This one was taken at the same crossing, just across the street. Since I have the clock as the foreground as main subject of this image, a bus trail in this picture to me is unnecessary and might be too much.
With only a short break after our Iceland road trip, we went back on the road again. This time, we wanted to revisit some of our favorite US national parks in the wild wild west. Glacier National Park was our first major stop.
