Day 9 – Lakeside Sunset

It was a fairly relaxing day.  When we just arrived at a new area, we typically spent our first day sorting out logistics – getting the maps, figuring out the hiking trails, storing some food and even doing laundry etc.

This time it was no exception.  We drove to Kalispell to get our maps from the US Forest Service Ranger – the most important one is the National Geographic map for Glacier National Park.  We then headed back south to Blacktail Mountain and did a short 45-minute hike, where we encountered a 9 to 10 feet tall bull moose.  He was quite startled when we met, and didn’t know what to do other than standing still.  Quite frankly we didn’t know what to do either – fortunately I had my iPhone with me so I took a few shots.

Tip of the Day

I jot down some notes about Road Trip Must Haves just to share with you.  We are grateful we brought them along.  Hope you enjoy!
