Myanmar day 5

Waken by the monks' chanting in the monastery at 4:30am, we started another early day into the fields, followed by a lake cruise to see the long necked Palaung tribe ladies in the afternoon. I thought the boat ride was already a gift after a few days' long hikes, until we pulled our boat closer to Golden Island Cottage in the early evening. It was way beyond 100 feet away that the entire hotel crew started to line up at the entrance with drums and gongs, beating out a loud yet somewhat uncoordinated welcome ceremony. We scanned over the lake and saw no other boat arriving.  So, we had to be the "VIP"!!!  Wow what a spoil to be welcomed in such warm hospitality!
