View fullsize Golden hour at Ko Olina (Oahu Hawaii) is always a visual treat — even in a busy resort setting.

Here’s how I approach shooting in places packed with people:

✔️ Telephoto + shallow DOF during midday
✔️ Wider shots at sunset
✔️ Lightroom

Lately, I’ve been leaning into things I used to avoid — not because they’re new, but because they challenge how I see and shoot.

Here are a few examples that might help

My kids climbing rocks, waves crashing beneath.
I stayed still—until the light felt just right.
A few quick frames. A moving subject. Then some long exposure of water’s quiet rhythm.
No gear shuffle. No s
View fullsize He must’ve swung on that rope at least 30 times.
Maybe more.  Each time, a little higher. A little bolder.

Each time, I stayed with the moment—and moved just a little.

First from the front. Then from the side.
Crouched low. Reached high
