We Found the Best Malbec In Mendoza

I haven’t had much alcohol the past few years. It seems I’m catching up all within one week in Mendoza, Argentina.

The wine tasting here seems to be more formal. Each tasting took a couple of hours. For lunch with wine pairing, it took even three. The pouring was generous, ranging from 4 to 7 different kinds in each place.

On top of that, the views were simply breathtaking. I absolutely love the snow mountain backdrop, particularly in Uco Valley, which is located more than one hour drive south of Mendoza.

The best wineries in the region, as we were told, were from Uco Valley. So instead of staying at Mendoza, we chose to stay in the mid-point between Mendoza and Uco Valley in Lujan de Cuyo.

On average we visited only two wineries every morning, but oh boy I fell right asleep after lunch, everyday! And will have to consume our purchase in the afternoon and evening as we don’t have room to add more to our luggage.

We visited Metervini winery on a whim, and surprisingly discovered our favorite Malbec in Mendoza. The winery actually was located in our neighborhood of Lujan de Cuyo, only 10 minutes drive from our stay. In fact it’s the only winery we have visited in Mendoza that only pours Malbec, the very purpose we visited Mendoza.

Apparently all this doesn’t matter to our boys. Orion found his new friend in the winery but couldn’t figure out how to take the nap together.

We went back to our favorite winery Matervini on the last evening to photograph sunset.

Orion saw his friend again. This time she was awake. I've never seen him having this level of connection with an animal, or anyone. He was completely enjoying the dog's company, and vice versa. I ended up clicking more photos of them than the sunset.

Oh yes we signed up the membership with Matervini and can’t wait to enjoy their twice a year shipment in the state side.
