How We Spent One Week In Miami Beach
Miami was originally just a mid point stop for our Caribbean trip but it turned out to be a destination, and the ending of our trip.
We are supposed to fly to Curacao tomorrow, but were notified 2 days ago that the island was newly locked down. All restaurants and beaches were closed, and you could only go shopping 2 days out of a week if and only if you have certain vehicles.
Perhaps this was not a trip meant to be, given the obstacles we encountered during this trip, from day 1:
➡️For the first stop to Bahamas, we left my camera bag in the Seattle airport (fortunately we got it back, after an anxious 11-day wait)
➡️For the second stop to US Virgin Islands, we got stranded at a marina on our first night. But just as we wondered if we’d be homeless, someone rescued us by offering a room on his sailboat
➡️For the 3rd stop to Curacao, well, there won’t be a 3rd stop for us. We changed all our tickets and bookings yesterday and will fly home.
However, I feel grateful that none of the obstacles resulted in any negative result or bad feelings.
Ending of a trip just means a beginning of a new chapter. Plus, we had an amazing one week in Miami, including:
2 day trips to Everglades National Park

Half Day Trip at the colorful art and design district in Miami
Wyndham Walls are sure unique of a kind.
Visiting friends, restaurants and hanging out at A Residence pool
…something we really enjoyed but haven’t done for a long while
Sunday Market at Lincoln Rd Mall
Our Airbnb was right outside Lincoln Rd Mall, a vibrant pedestrian street in Miami Beach, so we even dipped our feet into Sunday market, another to dos we really enjoy but haven’t done for a long time.
In addition, all my camera equipment was intact and returned to me perfectly. We got a whole lot of airline and airbnb credit for future use.
Although our Caribbean trip was cut short, we had a fantastic time in Bahamas (where we spent 11 days) and US Virgin Island before this week-long bonus trip in Miami Beach. So long Caribbean, we just dipped our toes this time, and will sure be back again.
