Tango and Cemetery In Buenos Aires
If someone asked me what’s in common between tango and cemetery before we visited Buenos Aires, I’d have no idea.
It turned out those are two major activities, and unique experiences in our first visit to Buenos Aires.
We are getting the taste of Buenos Aires at a slow pace over the past 3 days. Cosmopolitan, rich in culture, are the the first words I'd grab to describe it. We did some half day tour here and there, barely scratching the surface of the history and culture.
Our big highlight was at Plaza Dorrego, where we enjoyed a tango milonga, a very loud samba marching band, as well as a beautiful vegan dinner. After several weeks of meat meat meat, just wow!
We also went to the Recoleta Cemetery - twice! I have never been a fan of visiting cemetery, but this is on top of so many recommendation lists. Now I got it! It is unique and beautiful, home to the highly acclaimed first lady Eva Peron.
The rest of the time, we simply rested in our Airbnb in the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood, and couldn't be happier.

For serious mountaineers, trekkers, and outdoor enthusiasts, you have to visit El Chaltén. Our 4 yr old completed a 3-hour, 6km, mountain hike to Mirador del Torre, making me a super proud mama.
A glimpse of our travel pace in South America in general, and a zoomed in experience on our second day in El Calafate to see Lago Roca and Lago Argentina.
We followed our Airbnb host’s recommendation and took on a full day Mayo Spirit Trek boat tour from Southern Spirit. It turned out to be our favorite full day guided excursions in South America.
My best friend from Argentina suggested we take the epic road trip from San Carlos de Bariloche to San Martin de los Andes as a must-do in Argentina. And we did!
Bariloche is so far my most anticipated destination of this South America trip, as we are finally touching the lips of Patagonia.
I haven’t had much alcohol the past few years. It seems I’m catching up all within one week in Mendoza, Argentina.
