24-hour stop in Grand Canyon
We made a 24-hour stopover at Grand Canyon, only at South Rim this time. It was my first visit after 10 years. I was still completely in awe standing at each viewpoint.
Please help me find the right words: amazing, stunning, incredible, breathtaking, fascinating... None seems to precisely help me describe how beautiful it is!
These snapshots were taken at Yavapai Point where you can find a geology museum. My little ones were not so much into museums yet but the fact the museum was so well heated compared to the freezing cold outside was definitely a plus. After that stop, the little ones wanted to go back to the car, leaving me alone to explore and photograph the majestic scene.
We spent overnight inside the park (there are multiple lodging options in the Grand Canyon Village), and had a lazy morning before heading to the Kaibab Trailhead, which was known to be family friendly.
Unfortunately, the freezing temperature, coupled with closed road, didn’t allow us to walk too far. Not even to the trailhead! Our 4 year old fiercely protested and refused to walk. Our 2 year old, despite his first 10-minute love of the snow scene, also ended up sitting on the road.
We quickly killed the hiking plan, and embarked on the 25-mile scenic Desert View Dr. We made a handful of stops and spent a good couple of hours driving eastward before reaching the park exit.
It was a short trip, and revived my memory of the majestic scenes. It was not my first visit, and hopefully won’t be the last.
